The LEGACY Flight Academy (LFA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that conducts character-based youth aviation programs that draw upon the LEGACY of the Tuskegee Airmen. Our comprehensive 3-tiered program works in tandem with partner organizations to help minorities and at-risk youth achieve success as aerospace professionals, particularly emphasizing military career opportunities.  Our motto, “Know, Live and Grow,” is based on the LEGACY of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen, the pioneering African-American aviators in the U.S. armed forces.

We look forward to your support as you help us achieve our mission to uphold and sustain the LEGACY  of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen.

Why The LFA?

In a word, the Tuskegee Airmen LEGACY is in jeopardy! Current statistics show that African-Americans represent less than 2% of pilots in both the military and commercial airlines.* The Tuskegee Airmen “experiment” that began 75 years ago certainly succeeded; there were nearly 1000 black aviators in the Army Air Corps by the end of WWII. However, the fact that there are less than 300 black pilots in the Air Force today highlights the concern for upholding this cherished LEGACY.

Beyond sustaining this LEGACY in the air, there is the necessity to foster the character of the Tuskegee Airmen in today’s youth. “Competence, courage, commitment and capacity” – the words on the statue at the US Air Force Academy – only begin to describe this extraordinary group of Americans. The values espoused by the Tuskegee Airmen are worth emulating and the LFA seeks to do just that.

Know the LEGACY… Live the LEGACY… Grow the LEGACY

of the Heroic Tuskegee Airmen!

“The power of excellence is overwhelming. It is always in demand and nobody cares about its color.
— General Daniel “Chappie” James, USAF (Original Tuskegee Airmen) *
